Ever wish you could MAKE people buy your product or service?

Well, then…you’re creepy.

We can’t force the market; Microsoft has tried to do that for years and continues to fail miserably. What you can do is give yourself the best possible shot. Let’s examine two nifty facts that I stole from an infographic that I’ve pasted at the bottom of this post (along with a link back to its originator since I’m a classy guy).

Nifty fact #1:

Retail site visitors who view video stay onsite two minutes longer on average

If you’re a complete newbie to the world of online advertising you might say something ridiculously stupid like: “Two minutes? That’s not a long time, who cares?”

However – since you are a seasoned veteran I won’t feel the need of mentioning that every second spent on your site increases the odds of a direct purchase. Two minutes, in the world of web, is a lifetime.

Nifty fact #2:

People who view a web video are 64% more likely to purchase than other site visitors

In the words of one of the greats:

A web video increases the likelihood of a purchase by 64%. This just became an absolute no-brainer, right? Wait, there’s more.

Nifty fact #3:

Over 90% of shoppers in a recent survey found web video useful in making purchase decisions

If you need any more “punch” then you’re not paying attention.

What’s the take home message? Web videos sell stuff and, since you’re selling “stuff” it might be a good idea to use a web video.

But how?

Great question!

Web videos that center on products and services don’t need to be Oscar worthy cinematic feats of artistic purity. A shopper is looking for high value information (here we go again). If you have a product don’t yap about it, if they wanted yapping they could read your blog. The miracle behind a video is that you can show them the product. Show them how it’s packaged, how it functions and what comes with it. Provide some action shots of the product doing its thing. This is a great opportunity to provide differentiating factors regarding what separates you from the competition.

If you have a service…show them your service! Lets us an example close to home – if I’m trying to sell web video well then I should show you a video on us making a video! The more comfortable with the process you can make a user become the more likely they choose you as their service provider.

Is quality important? Absolutely. Is it as important as content, hell no. In fact – if your content is good and valuable your quality can be lacking and you’ll still see a positive response. It might “size” your business in the eyes of your users but as long as they’re buying what do you care?

So – what’s the next step?

Make a video!

Don’t know how?
